The Wenn Stage School was opened in May 1977.

Class numbers are strictly limited and we have an average teacher/pupil ratio of 1 : 15 for non examination classes and 1 : 8 for examination classes.

All of our staff are fully qualified in their respective subjects, many of whom were trained by the Principal – Dawn Wenn – and many work professionally within various theatrical fields.

We can offer everything from a one-class-per- week “fun” lesson to a full and intensive training in many theatrical subjects for stage and teaching careers. Brief details of the classes that we offer are provided on this web site – all classes are suitable for children aged 5 and over. Pupils may take any combination of subjects which may be altered at monthly intervals.

All pupils regularly have the opportunity to perform on stage at various Theatres in amateur and charity shows. Pupils showing exceptional promise may be offered the chance to take private tuition and compete in the British Arts Awards – a National competition which is often a “stepping stone” to professional theatre work.

Pupils attending dance classes in Ballet, Tap or Modern will be entered for I.S.T.D. examinations at regular intervals. The I.S.T.D. examinations are QCA approved exams and the major examinations can be used as extra “points” for College and University applications. We have at least 3 examination sessions each year and each child can progress at his/her own pace ensuring the highest possible level of achievement.

We also have a “tots class” for children aged 2 ½ – 4 years which is an introduction to dance and links directly into the 5 + classes.
