Jazz

Jazz classes are “free” – i.e. non–syllabus – pupils taking this subject do not take an examination.

Jazz dance is based on the same technique as modern dance, but jazz classes are not as structured as our modern classes as there is not a set syllabus to adhere to. Children begin each class with a warm-up and limbering but then go on to learn dances to current “chart” music.

The classes have a fast pace and have proved to be very successful for pupils attending auditions as the children and students learn to “pick up” choreography quickly.

This subject is often taken in conjunction with our Drama and/or Singing classes by those pupils wishing to perform on stage, but not take examinations.
